M.Barza (Boston, MA), Listeriosis in pregnancy The incidence of Listeria infections in the USA and in Western Europe averages 2-3 cases per million persons per year. About one-third of cases occurs in pregnant women or neonates. Listeriosis in pregnant women or neonates occurs in the absence of other underlying disease. It may occur in any trimester.
